The Artemis Program's "Pathfinder" solid rocket booster test segments
(story below).
Switching services for NASA over its 37 mile railroad delivering the Pathfinder solid rocket booster test segments to NASA's Rotating Processing and Surge Facility. The Pathfinder program marks the beginning of NASA's mission to the Moon and Mars - the Artemis Program. The solid rocket booster segments are the initial thrust stages of NASA's Space Launch System (SLS) that will exceed the lunar landing Saturn 5 rocket as the most powerful rocket in history. Each solid rocket booster segment was conveyed on a specialty 8 axle rail car designed to support the booster segment's 500,000 lbs. of weight.
